On March 28-29, 2023, on the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and with the support of the Government of the country, the Investment and Development Forum of Tajikistan was held in London.

This Forum, which was held for the first time in the history of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and the UK, was attended by a wide range of participants – in total more than 250 people from among the heads and representatives of ministries and departments of the country, businessmen and investors, heads and representatives of eminent companies and corporations of the world.

The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan at this Forum was represented at the head of the Chairman of the Committee on Investments and State Property Management Sadi Qodirzoda and with the participation of the Minister of Agriculture Qurbon Hakimzoda, the Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma, the Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir and the Chairman of the Tajikistan National Bank Hokim Kholiqzoda, as well as deputy ministers of foreign affairs, transport, finance and other relevant ministries of the country.

The purpose of this Forum was to strengthen and develop economic and investment cooperation through the creation of an open dialogue between businessmen and investors and, on this basis, to find new practical ways to create joint ventures.

Within the framework of the Forum, which consisted of several plenary and thematic sessions, bilateral meetings of official delegations and businessmen took place in the “Business to Business (B2B)” and “Business to Government (B2G)” formats.

Within the framework of this Forum, in order to present the export potential of the Republic of Tajikistan, an exhibition of Tajik products was also organized, where the sectors of industry, mining, agriculture, tourism and banking services were presented. During the exhibition, foreign businessmen were provided with detailed information about the investment climate and investment opportunities in these sectors of the economy, as well as specific investment projects for their further consideration.

As a result of meetings and negotiations between members of official delegations and businessmen of the two countries and private enterprises, 23 new cooperation documents were signed with a total budget of more than 370 million US dollars.

 

 

 

At the end of the Tajikistan Investment and Development Forum to celebrate the International Holiday of Navruz, with the participation of the guests of the Forum and the heads of missions of the diplomatic corps of London, a cultural and entertainment program was organized, during which famous and talented performers of the country performed and presented the high culture of the Tajik people, pleased the guests with their performances.

It is expected that this Forum will contribute to the presentation of export potential, attracting more investments and importing new technologies in the future, as well as strengthening bilateral relations between Tajikistan and the UK in the areas of economics and investment.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Kingdom of Spain (with residence in Geneva) Jamshed Khamidov has delivered a statement as a co-organizer of the event and provided information to the participants on the achievements of the Republic of Tajikistan in various spheres, as well as favorable business climate and investment opportunities in tourism, industry, energy and other sectors.

On January 25, 2023 in Milan, on the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Italian Republic (headquartered in Paris) a presentation of investment and tourism opportunities of Tajikistan was held. More than 200 Italian entrepreneurs and investors took part in this event.

During the event, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Italian Republic Jamoliddin Ubaidullo provided detailed information to the audience about the political, economic and social achievements of the country during the period of independence, its strategic goals and state programs, banking system, favorable business environment and various investment projects, as well as abundant trade, economic and tourism opportunities.
