On January 30, 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Mubarak bin Abdurrahman An-Nasr.

 

 

 

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the current and prospects of development of bilateral and multilateral relations, cooperation within the framework of international organizations, as well as other issues of mutual interest.

On December 18th 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin met the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Republic of Tajikistan Mrs. Elsa Pignol.

 

 

 

 

 

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on current state and prospects for development of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and France and other issues of mutual interest.

 

 

 

 

The Foreign Minister congratulated the Ambassador of France on her appointment and wished her success in her diplomatic mission in Tajikistan.

On 18 October, 2023, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin received copy of Credentials of the newly appointed UNICEF Representative in Tajikistan Mr. Arthur van Diesen.

 

 

 

 

After the ceremony, the parties also discussed issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and UNICEF, including the process of implementation of the Country Program Document for the 2023 – 2026 period and the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.

On 21 September 2023, on the margins of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin participated and addressed the Informal Meeting of Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

 

 

 

In his statement, Minister Muhriddin noted that Tajikistan is interested in the effective activities of ECO in creating a reliable transport and transit system, simplifying business procedures, efficient use of natural resources, creating a unified energy system and providing favorable environment for attracting investments within the Organization.

 

 

 

 

The Minister also emphasized the need to continue further broad cooperation to comprehensively use the Organization’s capabilities to ensure sustainable development of member states and protect the economic system of the region from the negative impact of external factors.

On 21 September 2023, on the margins of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin participated and addressed the Informal Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

 

 

 

 

During his speech, Minister Muhriddin noted that throughout the period of its existence, CICA has proved itself as an effective and promising mechanism of multidimensional collaboration, facilitating confidence building measures, good neighborliness and constructive approaches to address contemporary challenges.

 

 

 

 

The Minister also emphasized the importance of Tajikistan’s global initiatives in the field of water and climate and invited CICA member states to take an active part in the Third High-Level Conference on the implementation of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028” to held in Dushanbe in June 2024.

On 21 September 2023, on the margins of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin participated and addressed the Annual Coordination Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

 

 

 

 

In his speech, Minister Muhriddin emphasized the importance of stable peace and prosperity in the OIC region and expressed concern about the current security situation in various regions of the Organization, including the growing threats of terrorism and extremism, escalation of contradictions and armed conflicts.

 

 

 

 

Minister of Foreign Affair also stated that Tajikistan in accordance with its international obligations is taking necessary measures to combat the threats of terrorism, extremism, xenophobia thus providing the international community with a platform for political dialogue called “Dushanbe Counter-Terrorism Process”.

During the meeting, bilateral relations between Tajikistan and the United States in the political, economic, humanitarian spheres and security cooperation were discussed, as well as an exchange of views took place on the use of broad opportunities for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of the programs of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

On 22 March 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affair of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin participated in and presided over the Leaders Segment of the United Nations 2023 Water Conference.

The Leaders Segment, held as part of the UN Water Conference brought a large range of stakeholders, in particular Multilateral Development Banks, Private Sector and Civil Society Organizations into discussions on the concrete commitments and actions for the Water Action Agenda.

The speakers once again expressed their gratitude for the initiative of Tajikistan and other partners in organizing this Conference and emphasized that international institutions and the private sector will contribute to the further fulfillment of declared commitments.

On 24 March 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affair of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin participated and addressed the fifth Interactive Dialogue on the International Water Action Decade, jointly organized by the United States and Singapore.

In his speech, Minister Muhriddin noted that the Water Action Decade is primarily aimed at creating an additional platform that contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to water resources with a special focus on action.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, referring to the country’s commitments, mentioned the importance of using the Dushanbe Water Process as a mechanism to follow-up the implementation of the commitments made during the UN 2023 Water Conference.
